MYRIN & THE 2 WOTZ – Mariel Man / Song from a Spic 7”

No label – Miami (1984??)

Andy Clarke

Leo Casino

Frank Falestra

Johnny Jarrell

Willie “Myrin” Orozco

The date of this record is a complete guess. It’s probably good within 3 years or so. Among the band, the only recognizable name to me is Frank “Rat Bastard” Falestra. This record is easily worse than the experience of seeing Scraping Teeth (judged America’s worst band by Spin magazine). Basically, this is party-novelty rock (think company picnic, corporate event, etc - in sound only), complete with prominent saxophone, concerned solely with Marielitos, in a manner some may find offensive. Local scenesters Dave Camp & Elaine, Dave Daniels and Hal Spector appear in limited capacities and bear minor culpability for this. I’m left scratching my head wondering what target audience they were hoping to snare.

  1. Best live band I ever saw. Put on a show. Great live vocals. Great original songs. Where are these guys now. Hope they are still around.
